HMSHost has presented a US$20,000 grant to Grace-Mar Services in support of programmes to provide needy people with employment opportunities at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. An official cheque presentation, attended by HMSHost Foundation, Charlotte Douglas and Grace-Mar representatives, took place at the airport’s 1897 Market  ‘urban gourmet’ outlet. HMSHost Foundation aims to fight poverty in local communities across the USA with food, shelter, education, and workforce development.  Grace-Mar Services ’ mission is to provide education, counselling, and professional networks to displaced workers, minorities and low to moderate income families. The grant will support both organisations in their work to make a difference in the lives of many in the Charlotte area. HMSHost Foundation President Paul Mamalian said: “We are committed to the city of Charlotte, where HMSHost has 1,215 associates who call this community home. “Working with Grace-Mar we hope to change the lives of our neighbours in this community while building upon the great activity the HMSHost team has already done at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.” Representatives from HMSHost Foundation, HMSHost Corporation, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Grace-Mar Services and HMSHost associates attended the official presentation at the 1897 Market HMSHost said its operations team at Charlotte Douglas International Airport actively supported the Grace-Mar Services’ Upward Mobility programmes and services, which have created multiple employment opportunities for associates at HMSHost-operated dining venues at the airport. “Together, Grace-Mar Services and HMSHost are giving these individuals an opportunity to achieve financial literacy, job readiness, placement opportunities, and self-empowerment,” HMSHost stated. Grace-Mar CEO Kenneth Smith commented: “Our relationship with HMSHost Foundation and HMSHost Corporation has allowed us to have a tremendous impact on the community and with those individuals that we serve. “I believe that our success comes from the fact that our organisations share the same core value, in making the world a better place, by empowering the individuals we serve, one community at a time.” HMSHost Foundation recently marked its first year of operation.
